The only element that I didn't love about this book was the number of characters because I could not keep track of them. I'd met dangerous people—truly dangerous people—and seen the violence in their eyes, heard it brimming in their voices. I'm usually a fan of books in which a group of friends covers up a murder, so I was excited to read this. So, if you love dark, twisted, mind boggling, character driven thrillers with multiple trigger warnings then this psychological thriller debut book is for you.
Take pity on us poor readers who need to keep characters straight in our heads! When a tragedy strikes her family and Jess' father passes away, Jess finds herself more driven than ever to live out her father's dreams and achieve the goals he was never able to for herself. While this is adult and not YA I do want to compare the characters to those from the book People Like Us by Dana Mele. Heather's brother is at the reunion too, and has been obsessing over his sister's murder for the past 10 years. I do believe many readers will find his a tense, compelling thriller, and I am probably in the minority. Caro, Coop, Courtney, and even a Charlie has a role.
