English/Spanish review: No. Overall, The Batman Who Laughs #7 has the elements that make any great Batman story; high stakes, a compelling villain, and a Bruce Wayne on the brink of insanity. As Batman's closest friends, deadliest enemies, and doppelgängers from across the Multiverse get caught in the crossfire, only one question remains: Who will have the last laugh? Long-forgotten plot points from other books being brought up with absolutely zero frame of reference. I figured I'd give this a shot. While Gordon didn't do anything to this Grim Knight, he represents all that went wrong for the Grim Knight's Gotham City. The Batman Who Laughs is probably the best original character to come out of DC for a little while, and even though he's a simple idea, he's so well executed under Snyder's pen that he becomes far more than the sum of his parts. This book also is an integral chapter to the over-arching DC story being told by Snyder, including his Batman, Justice League, and Metal stories. James Gordon has been underground for all those years, deducing that the only way Batman could control Gotham so completely would be if he were its foremost billionaire industrialist, and then building an ironclad case against him. With the Batman Who Laughs threatening the multiverse, our Batman must make a huge choice.
As the Grim Knight continues his rising arc, Gordon's takes a nosedive, after the police captain underestimates his opponent's reach and an operation to arrest the vigilante results in the loss of hundreds of lives. This tie-breaker tells me I should stop reading anything by Snyder that actually has "Batman" in the title. I see him in more than a few books so he probably is. It's one of those titles that I really felt I needed to read, simply because there are so many references to this Batman Who Laughs character. It's an idea worth being reminded of. Letterer Sal Cipriano also plays a big role in contributing to the overall theme of this volume as he utilizes a horror calligraphy in red for The Batman Who Laughs but also for Batman when he is pulled into the lunacy. The homage in the middle to Batman: Year One was a bit interesting at least, but then James Tynion IV helped co-write that little aside. It did feel a bit stretched out and also some of the lettering, especially for Batman who Laughs is hard as hell to read. The story recalls every bit of history from Snyder's legacy with Batman (all the way back to Batman: The Black Mirror) and it's been a while since I've felt such danger to Bruce Wayne (since maybe "Court of Owls").

As Bruce and Commissioner Gordon struggle to stop these multi-versal forces, both compromise in their own way to stop this threat, from the former losing his insanity to the latter confronting his past. Instead, it's a solid book that encourages readers to examine the Batman we know and generally love while also taking into consideration that even the smallest change in a situation can lead to a very different outcome, and that a single moment can mean the difference between being a hero and being a villain. He unleashed the Dark Multiverse in the epic series Dark Nights: Metal. I suppose this book happened because The Batman Who Laughs is a popular new character - I don't know? As Bruce begins to deduce that his current life is somehow wrong and that all the mistakes he's made are somehow connected, the Batman Who Laughs unleashes a brand-new evil. As expected from Scott Snyder, this is what writer Grant Morrison would have created in his prime but with a bit more trouble gauging the pacing and the amount of exposition in his stories.
