Honoring and developing my past and roots. The deck arrived while I was on my way out, and though I had intended on waiting until I got home to open the package, I gave in and opened it while I was in the card and had an hour or two to kill. I can't think of another deck that does this. This deck is not unknown, despite its name. Kali destroys evil forces and gives birth to creation. The Pages are Daughters, the Knights are Sons, the Queens are Mothers, and the Kings and Fathers. For each card definition, there is a black-and-white image of the card on the left page and the definition and keywords on the right page. The Mother of Swords encourages you to be direct and honest with yourself and others. On the left page is a black and white image of the card. As you continue maturing and developing within, you leave aside fear that binds you. Like the Father of Swords, she is actually sitting on the hilt of her sword so it's holding her up and supporting her; she relies on her intellect, wit, logic and communication skills. I have not read the entire book yet, but the passages I did read helped me understand the archetypes better. So far, with each card I've drawn, I've had to spend time reading it, staring at it, and meditating on it, which is so far making a quick general reading nearly impossible, but very, very worth the time spending with the deck. Like there's some kind of really clear sight happening here, and there's an ability to sort of slice through, very cleanly, any confusion, any sort of whirling or swirling or density that might be there, to expose sort of, the beating heart of the matter. Upright is the full moon, the card's full potential. And we certainly can't really hook any Tarot card's meaning onto a certain, external attainment or a feeling or an emotional state. In our journey around daring to get our hopes up, how can we begin to tend to the feelings of worry, anxiety and overwhelm that can often arise?
