The first ever Patient Participation Group was set up by a GP in 1972 and many general practices in England now have a PPG. Our aim is to work with as many different patients as possible and to make sure that the group is as fair a representation of our entire patient population as we can achieve. Communicating with the wider patient body. Patients will benefit from improved communications between patients and staff. To all Doctors and Staff at Streatham Hill Group Practice, On behalf of all the patients, their guardians and/or their carers, the Patient Group at Streatham Hill Group Practice would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody at the practice for their courage and resilience during these extremely trying times. They can help them to communicate accurately and honestly with individual patients, and with the wider community about key health matters. They help to improve communication. Letting the practice staff know more about the level and standard of service they provide from a patient's perspective. Do you have something to say but do not have the time to attend meetings? A Patient Participation Group is made up of patients, volunteers and staff that advise the practice on what matters most to patients and to identify solutions to problems. All PPGs are different, and the specific aims of each group depend on local needs and the interests of the participants, although they all aim to help ensure practices remain accountable and responsive to patients' needs. By talking to any member of the PPG (eg, in surgery while you are there). In addition to regular meetings there may be special meetings called where the topic merits a dedicated meeting; or an urgent meeting.
All registered patients (and/or their carers) are considered members of the patient body and, as such, part of the Patient Group. HO-PPGs act as representatives of the patient population, and are a way of better connecting the general practice with the community it serves. Service staff will send apologies in advance of the meeting if they are unable to attend allowing enough time for the meeting to be rescheduled if deemed necessary. Submissions to us using these methods are not secure and are not monitored on a regular basis. This survey is an opportunity for patients to have their say about how well their surgery is doing at providing these services to patients. Some communication will only be via email or post. We are now part of the South Hams Primary Care Network. We will also look to meet a minimum of 4 times a year. They may wish to only liase with the group via email. We will produce a short annual report of our achievements. Positive outcomes of PPGs. I took up the position as chair of the Patient Participation Group in May of this year. The PPG comprises a committee of permanent members aided by representatives of healthcare professionals from the practice. It is open to everyone from the north east London area.
