Our volunteers range from kids that set-up cots and serve at the Host Church to college students, retirees, teachers, nurses, veterans, families, people without a faith-based background, high school clubs, moms and bikers. While a participant recuperates, staff members complete needs assessments to link the individual to mainstream services. And, though this year may be the most challenging Room in the Inn executive director Rachel Hester is determined to do the same this Christmas Eve. Room in the Inn, which has been helping the homeless since 1985, expects to be able to accommodate only about 50 guests on Christmas Eve, compared to about 250 or more in normal years. We intend for each of these services to offer participants a sense of stability that will allow for a smooth transition into permanent housing. What does this mean?
