There are many ways to protect the finish of the exterior of your vehicle. The bottom line about car sealants is that they're polymer paint sealants, similar to wax. Protecting your vehicle's finish is crucial in protecting your investment and keeping a clean and good looking car. But there's a solution! That being said, the ceramic coatings that are offered today, outlast sealants, and protect your car for a much longer period. Once applied those particles bond, crosslink and transfer within each other to create sacrificial layer that has literally become one with the surface. Paint Sealants are made from polymers to bond with the clear coat to create a layer of protection. Protecting your car's finish is super important.
Wax – Polymer Sealant – Ceramic Coating. Coatings are said to be scratch resistant, and this is just not true. What's more, such strong protection through either a paint sealant or ceramic coating will ensure your gorgeous car will look sharp for a long time. But any experienced detailer knows there are subtle differences that make the difference. Is sealant equally good? When applied, they penetrate into the pores of the clear coat, and as the solvents evaporate, anchor the coating physically to the surface.
Considering apply a coating? Based on these comparisons, you'd say that ceramic coatings are the best option, however, it isn't quite as clear cut as this. This can then scratch up half the panel before you even realize what's going on. The latest development in paint protection are products called ceramic coatings (or Nano-Ceramic Coatings). However, ceramic coatings last longer than paint sealants so can be seen as an investment. But perhaps we're getting ahead of ourselves... What is a Paint Sealant? The vehicle is then washed and clay bared to thoroughly exfoliate the paint and prepare the painted surface for buffing. You can best imagine it as a huge chain of identical links. Looking for some candy gloss on that car's surface? In other words, this serves to maintain your car's value in the long run, which for you will ultimately translate into a higher reselling value. That's a hard pillow to swallow if you just want to protect your daily driver. This must then be repeated in a crisscross pattern. If you want the best finish possible, then you'll need to make sure the paint is properly corrected if it needs to be. There's no point investing heavily in paint correction and ceramic coating on cars you use a lot and know are going to get scratched up, eventually. Ceramic coating has better durability when compared to paint sealant. How Long Do Car Sealants Last? However, because they are not permanent coatings, you can simply deep clean and decontaminate the vehicle and then apply your paint sealant.
The only way to remove it is by abrasion, so the coatings can last for years. The thin layer bonds with the paintwork of your car and is completely invisible to the human eye. It acts as a protectant and offers amazing hydrophobic and anti-static properties and up to 6 months of UV protection on daily driven vehicles. Buying a car is more affordable than ever. A wax for example will max out at about 2 thin coats, attempting to put 5 coats of wax down in search of extra gloss and super durability just doesn't work. What makes a ceramic coating, a ceramic coating? We really hope this article has been helpful. Not all waxes protect from UV rays or only to a minimal level. All guarantee protection, hydrophobicity and a good looking, slick and shiny finish. I'd also recommend ceramic coating to those with expensive cars, it will help to maintain the value of your car and make washing it much easier. On the flip side, it doesn't provide protection from acid rain and bird droppings. It contains silicon dioxide (SiO2), a compound that is extremely hydrophobic. Every product, sealant, or coating will have a different life span. Let's discuss each one of them separately. The most recent technology for exterior protection is found in the coatings category.
