When the only suspect is a teenage girl covered in blood named Marie, our protagonist Michael wants to find out what happened, not only because he's a budding reporter, but also because he just wants to make sense of something so senseless. I am here for all these recent YA thrillers! I think this is one of the things that I kept thinking if only that thread had been developed a little bit better and there could have been a little bit more about gendered competition and energy in a later part of the movie. Kate’s Review: “All These Bodies” –. I very much loved it and simply cannot wait to own this beautiful book in person too. She's a sort of self-obsessed influencer–turned–podcaster, and she's dating Greg, played by Lee Pace, who is her boyfriend of, at that point, an undisclosed amount of time. Instead, they threw beer cans at Michael and put a loaded gun in his face. It has a gritty, true crime feel and is set in the 1950s, loosely based on a couple of real cases. Surprisingly, the snake incident was forgotten for a while. I asked Marie once why she insisted on antagonizing Pilson so badly, but she only shrugged and said that with a man like him there was no winning anyway.
My take on this author is that her stories seem to be juuuuust missing something. The feeling of not being fully safe was very awesome. At first, no one knows what to make of the strange girl, but once she's been cleaned up and not a scratch is found on her, she's swiftly arrested.
A slow burning novel. The graphic descriptions are minimal, as the terror really lies within what people cannot see, understand, or control. However, when they arrived at the house and pulled up the floorboards in the basement… Marie's mother was there. They tried to kill him because of his connection to Marie. Stevens: Let's talk about the very first woman to die. The parts you lose ending explained. The question of vampires was never completely denied or confirmed. I just think that by the terms that it sets out for itself, to do some things that are funny—interesting ideas for a horror/comedy movie about this generation, —it doesn't necessarily execute all those ideas extremely well.
In one passage halfway through the book, Michael says "I can't recall if I disliked [character] on sight. It had the perfect amount of mystery, thrill, and horror which had me creeped out but also unable to put this book down. But not the stepfather. Mysterious without being overly coy, full of details without telling you every single button on everyone's shirt, this is more Anna Dressed in Blood than Three Dark Queens, and I am HERE for it! One of the victims left textbooks behind with things written inside, but the police didn't immediately put that together. Review of All These Bodies. The last night of the killing spree, Michael and his buddy Percy were hanging out in Percy's old barn, talking about girls, when Percy's dad showed up and told them to get the dogs and come with him. They can't use any of the phones because the reception is out. A small, pretty girl.
Imagine Leave it to Beaver, but with murder. I just wish I had gotten more from the story. There were a few side characters too. She was found at a murder scene and he's the son of the local sheriff. Hot damn, what a powerful story!
So this is that story. Everyone in town was terrible to him and his family because of her. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk. He also believed that Marie's stepfather was the man responsible for the murders and that he and Marie had a sexual relationship that she seduced him into. All these bodies summary. Then he commented on how sometimes the tape recorded interviews started in the middle of conversations and how it was because they were talking about things of a delicate nature. The one key witness turned suspect.
You never really find out why Marie and the murderer are actually killing people. All the room for possibilities, twisting power plays, and reasonable doubt in between. They're almost good. I'm going to just tell the one guy friend of mine who I met yesterday by the way! It turns out, some of the victims did fight, or try to run. Michael did have to tell his dad about the blood drinking part because Pilson found out and decided everything that Marie said was a lie and it was all a waste of time. You mean like a vampire? Each round, the murderer kills someone. Who did Marie work with? Paisley needs to use her intuition, honed from digging into murder cases, to figure out who is doing this and why. A kind of wild house party is starting to assemble itself, and their first night together, with some of them already drunk and others getting drunk in the course of the game, they decide to play this murder game called Bodies Bodies Bodies, hence the title.
I'm giving this a three star rating mostly because I don't think the book itself is bad, it just wasn't what I wanted. I'd read Blake before, be it in short story form or her book "Anna Dressed in Blood", and felt that it was high time to dive back in. As we learn more about her story, we realize that it, at the end of the day, seems to matter less and less what she says as the narrative around her is constructed. Then he left back to Nebraska. And so she is put in a jail, where she will stay for a long time. But yes, Pete Davidson's death is scary, and as we'll get to at the end, it is also maybe the only clever death in the entire movie.
I couldn't even tell if the story included paranormal elements or not. A family dead, their two-year-old surviving. Michael went back to see Marie after that to ask why the blood drinker would mess with his family like that.
