I must say the PA sound was excellent at the show, I was on the phil's side in the stands, and it was clean and clear sound out the PA. The preformances were eneven at best. Grateful Dead Live at Soldier Field on 1995-07-09 : Free Borrow & Streaming. Never has one tune been so historically appropriate as a "swan song". My last show was Portland '95, when Jerry had a meltdown when he was trying to remember the lyrics to Crazy Fingers. God Bless Jerry Garcia. If you listen very closely to the end of Unbroken, I swear you can hear Jerry slowly trickle down and wind up on what i swear was the opening chord of Morning Dew, or possibly China Doll.
Listen here at the Archive, and find some you like, enjoy them, remember them if you were there, and never forget them. Watchtower at first does little to wake anyone up. I happen to agree with Kwikfix- this performance just stinks, it blows, it's inept, it's poorly played, uninspired, and flat. If so enjoy it, if not, enjoy it. This song has been on "repeat" during my morning commute, and I hear something different each time it is never fails to make my hair stand on end. Discernment, particularly spiritual discernment, is a rare commodity in these last days and a topic of which I am ferociously serious. One can truly feel the sad emotion coming from the stage.
You say upsetting and depressing? So, I guess stating my opinion is wrong? There were those tunes that Jerry just identified with and his brilliance just poured out into all of our souls... His frailty, his humility and willingness to just drop his guard and tell us what his heart had to say. How might this challenge help me change my life for the better? Maybe tears of joy for all the fucking money he was remeber, Garcia was in my mind the greatest musician ever, but he wasnt some peace loving hippie wanting to change the world and supporting"The Cause" was a junk food eating, Deadbeat Dad, womanizing may say"Tito, you just dont get it" YOU just dont get it, open your fucking eyes. And I'm not just saying that because it's the last show. My friend asked me after the show what was going on and I told him my feelings he said it was the doses. It is what it is: the end of what we cherish.
