I get no chime on accessory. With the key in the ignition, even partially, engine off and door open, it dings..... a lot, and loudly. I definitely want to disable the chime too. If they metal contact on the plug is allowed to ground itself on the lock cylinder then the chime will still function. I thought playing the radio without the key would be kinda handy. Images (Click to enlarge). So I removed the steering column trim, and popped out the cylinder, then put it in a vice in the shop and took the snap ring off to remove the cover. It may be another week to know about the battery drain when the car can sit for 3 days. I didn't take any pictures, because I wasn't entirely sure it was going to work, but through some messing around I found that any object pressed into the ignition with the door open will cause the chime to start, so there must be a switch inside the cylinder. I know I wish I could keep my doors open working around my truck cuz it's sounds so much better. I have the same problem.
Is only an issue when the temps drop, and the truck sits. Any ideas as to the fix? This stopped mine from dinging. I will do this soon ^^^. There is also a new-used cluster installed.
