I've never seen that quilt before but now it's on my list of quilts to make! This quilt, with lots of half-inch squares in it, was fun to make. When did you start making patterns? I was needlessly worried. Let me just say I love the birds. But then I realized, I should read it, think things over, make sure I am asking the right questions before jumping head first into something I haven't done before. I didn't realize how spoilt I was with my studio. I strongly urge EPP beginners to use an applique pattern to start with because you can finish the project relatively quickly, so it is not as big of a commitment. Quilts that are entirely EPP take a relatively long time to complete, so this pattern offers an opportunity to make an EPP quilt far quicker than you normally could.
