It was the first Section 2 title ever for Coginchaug 11-12 baseball, and just the 4th in the 55-year history of District 9. No New England team has ever won a Senior or Big League baseball World Series. That included a 1-0 rain-shortened victory over host Killingworth, a 6-0 win over Haddam, and a pair of consecutive 13-0 and 14-5 wins over East Hampton. After a 9-4 opening win against rival Madison, they went on to defeat Killingworth 19-0, East Haddam 5-3 and Madison again 14-4.
