That little spring which was in the got jammed into the housing (probably when i tried putting it back together not knowing/realizing my seal was bad) and thats what was stopping the driveshaft. The differential and spring are on blocks. If you were to tap it lightly from behind with a steel hammer and it made a dullish "thud", it's likely being held up by the seal for some reason (wrong seal is all I can think of). Apparently someone had modified it at some point to accommodate a longer double race. But I will update if I'm able to figure it out, since this problem doesn't seem to be very common.

If you had jammed the yoke in there anyway, it would have eventually leaked all the fluid out and then your out a transmission.
