At the reunion, Heather's brother, Eric Shelby, who works in the alumni office, takes the opportunity to interrogate Jessica and the others, certain one of them is the murderer. Listening to the audio performed by Vanessa Johansson is a must. They were kind of jerks to each other and to people outside of their circle too. I liked going back and forth between different timelines which give enough clues about characters' motives and perspectives. I think we will be seeing some great things from this author in the future, she will be one to watch! She was the least talked about character even though we had an insane amount of flashbacks where she was alive. Such a well though mystery and I was on the edge of my seat the entire way through! When the six friends are reunited, they will be forced to confront what happened that night—and the years' worth of secrets each of them would do anything to keep hidden. I am always torn on this sort of style. The killer was no surprise. But this book read like a teen drama, and it made little sense these people were friends because most of them were inauthentic to each other. Once the characters began working to solve the mystery, I enjoyed this book very much.

The explanation for this was backstory about Jessica's father going to Harvard and never fulfilling his potential, which made her have to try to fulfill his dreams. It's an addictive story, dark academia at its best, but also it'll leave you with a shadow of nostalgia for something that happened but it's now over. The pace is well balanced, intriguing.
