I got home from a long trip last summer, and a rear tire went flat in my driveway. 5" rim with tire and six lugs (3. I purchased a 5/8" x 3" bolt, flat washer and nuts to permanently attach the mount to the hitch. Mounted the main bracket over the bumper where it attaches to the frame thinking that this would be the strongest point. The hardest part was lifting the heavy spare tire onto the carrier. If it wasn't for the odd bolts in my shop I probably would have sent this back. This tire carrier mount works great, super easy to install on our race car trailer and we no longer are tripping over the spare trailer tire inside the trailer at the race track.
