Against both carbon (with a bronze brush), and copper (on a patch). So far, in the 2 hours since I got home, I've used the foaming Wipe-Out on 3 of my rifles. Throughout the year, and as far as I know, the gun has never been cleaned of copper in the 7 years that we have. Butches for the bore, I keep remoil or hoppe's wipes on hand for exterior. I still use Butch's Bore Shine for light cleaning, even though it is not as effective as it was a few years ago before they changed the formula due to chemical availability. Gunsmiths can not spend 4-5 hours cleaning the gun, they tell you the barrel is shot out, or the gun needs a new breaking for a guy on a very limited budget or with a gun that is an heirloom. According to SharpShoot-R's website, if the patch comes out a deep navy blue color there is copper in the bore. I HAVE THROWN ALL OF MY RIFLE BRUSHES AWAY, Thanks to your product. That works fast, but the ammonia odor is quite strong. Anybody recommend a good bore cleaning solvent. Most of my well-used rifles also have DBC in them as well. Fourth shot and purely driver error! Lately my borescope and I have been much impressed with Blue Wonder bore gel/gun cleaner. I repeated the process and it lost about another 1/10 grain more or less. The best way to determine what your cleaner is made of is by looking up the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets). There is a LOT of Snake Oil being sold out there when it comes to bore solvents to remove is the easy stuff to get a rule. And rimfire barrels (and ammo) are a very different deal than centerfire barrels and ammo. Try one of the copper cleaners to verify that all of the copper has been removed. Use a nylon brush with copper solvents. I think it's the best gun cleaning product i have ever used. Butches bore eliminator ,is this bore cleaner any good. I use a product called Conidial Graphite in my barrels after every cleaning, and I find that it makes the barrel much easier to clean the next time I have to. Hoppes formulation is a petroleum based cleaner whose main ingredient is kerosene. I was being a bit tongue in cheek about liking the cocktail of aromatic hydrocarbons in Butch's, as I said, they seem to attack almost everything, so don't let them linger on any stock finish, or get them on your hands or in your eyes. I used to be done of those guys, but changed my ways several years ago.
