Really the side characters here are the Holmes family- which we already know how the holmes family is so they weren't that exciting in my opinion. I really enjoyed the first book in this series. Thinking about this book makes me want to drink toothpaste while walking on legos. I did enjoy when Lena finally came to Berlin and joined the plot.
One of my favourite things about this series is how Jamie is the narrator, though we get little bits in which Charlotte takes the reins, and shows her more vulnerable side. I'm not really sure how to explain it, or if my attempt at explaining it even makes sense. I got the chills because of how perfect that last sentence was, considering this was my first read of 2019! The trail leads Charlotte and Jamie to go to Berlin to figure out what's going on. The relationship between Charlotte and Jamie is great, and I love them a lot. She has bad reactions from him touching her sometimes and tries to do tests to see if she can cure herself of that. Fans of Sherlock Holmes (of course), mystery solving, family shenanigans, and stories filled with sugar, (lots of) spice, and a good dose of quirkiness. We finally come face to face with august moriarty and an art forgery ring whilst searching for holmes' lost uncle leander. I loved how Watson would get annoyed at Holmes leaving him out of key parts of the investigation and so he would try to work things himself. Get help and learn more about the design.
