Allen Frederick Shaffer was born June 2, 1874, (twin of Alice). Jonathan P. & Sarah Penelope Holland Lewis had several descendant s buried here at New Hope Presbyterian Church Cemetery, and some who still live in this area! However, the growth in membership was severely affected by the War Between the States and, later, when a number of members affiliated with the newly organized Melrose Cumberland Presbyterian Church in the Cairo Bend community.
