When the women meet drooling over a boardwalk storefront that none of them can afford on her own, a plan is hatched to divide the space in three, and a friendship—and business partnership—is born. It takes you on a journey about family, loss, love and friendship. If being able to see and experience the wonders of our planet and its remarkable creatures up close helps nudge folks in the direction of caring for our planet and its future, then I can't help but feel like the captivity of Marcellus, and others like him, is not in vain. "A debut novel about a woman who befriends an octopus is a charming, warmhearted read. " The role of the octopus plays is vital but that is when you have to suspend belief a little. And in early drafting, it was tempting to make the connection between Tova and Cameron the twist.

Despite the unorthodox relationship at its core, the debut novel offers a wholly original meditation on grief and the bonds that keep us afloat.
