Can you recommend a good 9mm 125g FMJ and/or LRN load for Red Dot? For 38 special I haven't found anything better than Bullseye. 1 & 2 On the list;) PS Mostly Unique. 38 Special; 4" bbl-. 3 grains of 452AA behind a 148 grain hollow base wadcutter( Power is OLD but shoots good). Other than that- whatever I can pour into a case and get reasonable data for approximation. Used Blue Dot and Power Pistol for HV loads (flame thower effect, will scare away bad guys!! I have a load I like for bunny fart loads but want something on the other end of the spectrum. All three produce about 800fps out of a 4" barrel. The classic powders have be mentioned - Bullseye, Unique, 2400. I carry due to toxic other people's. For all the compasses in all the world, there is but one direction and time is its only measure. It is not a "Top 3" question. Yep along with Bullseye.

38 Special and light. I agree it is better to use different powders though. The best by far has been AA#2 powder using Accurate Arms data. The Red dot to BE range are plenty fast and have lots of 38 load data and lots of feedback from satisfied customers. Someone said it 38 Special is a very forgiving caliber for the handloader. 38 special and 357 mag reloading. Im not concerned with completely filling the case like trail boss would (my go to for 44 special poppers) but something a little more volumous than titegroup is desired, the numbers stated above, all roughly%50 case filling with bullet is just fine.
Also with newer powders, you don't know if they'll be a fad, or produced over the long haul. 7 for its never exceed for 38spl for 231. 357 it's an entirely different story: 2400, 296, H-110, #9, Lil Gun, 4227(! ) You will need to use regular primers with the 2400 and magnum primers with the H-110. New to reloading and have done been successfully using Hodgdon hp-38 powder to load only. I can't find it now discontinued? On the other hand, you may find that these powders aren't worth the small amount of additional velocity they add with short barrels. Best powder for 38 special events. I really like Bullseye, I prefer fast powders with revolvers. My favorite at one time was the 4756 but it is no longer available. Winchester Super Target. Didn't notice any flash but it was daytime. If Universal was all I had, I'm sure I could succeed in the long run and I would choose Universal over Titegroup (and Blue Dot, yuck) but for me, back home with Bullseye was the perfect answer.
